Bubblyskulls

The Bubblyskull was created by accident but as a direct result of my love for both so-called accessible art and design styles or trends, as well as supposed darker types of the same. Throw in my love for graffiti and street art with a related desire to have something that was iconic, easily repeated, which would catch people’s eye, and was both quick to throw up and easily repeatable. There you have it.

I’ve crafted thousands of these iconic characters and they currently reside on every continent in the world aside from Antarctica. Between putting them up myself during travels, having friends put them up on their own travels, selling original artwork featuring them, and selling merchandise that showcase the iconic graphic – Bubblyskulls exist on six of this planets seven continents. And not just as one-offs, there’s several – at minimum – and countless – at best – across each of the continents on planet Earth.

Of course Google, above, is accurate, it also misses a huge swath of what I’ve done as an artist and what Bubblyskulls have gone on to do – on my own, collectively, and at or in the hands of people who appreciate the character and mission.

I designed a stand alone so-called “fidget” website for the Bubblyskull character some years back and it still stands. It calls back to the days of net.art, Geocities, and early web – while featuring and displaying the Bubblyskull at the forefront.

I’ve collaborated with many street artists over the years, as well, showcasing a mash-up of my Bubblyskull with their iconographic image in a perfect blend suited for the streets, collections, and displays alike.

I’ve released a ton of on demand and one off or limited run merch designs featuring the iconic Bubblyskull character, as well. I’ve had limited run patches, pins, and tons of sticker designs done up over the years – so many various pro run original sticker designs that I’m caught off guard on the regular when I see a design I forgot about, which happens often. I’ve included the Bubblyskull character in art, design, and/or promo for physical and digital media releases for my personal music output and it has also been included in DIY label physical music releases for my labels over the years.

While stickers have always remained the premier and tried-and-true method with which to spread the Bubblyskull message, there is no medium or space that has not been breached and will not be impacted by it – in the past or now or in the future. It is a timeless and recognizable iconographic image that appeals to the senses of such a wide and diverse sensibility that it cannot go ignored wherever it may spring up.
